Hospital treating Madrasa students attacked by Hindutva mob in Medak

A hospital in Medak, Telangana, which was treating students from Madrasa Minhaj ul Uloom who were injured in an attack, was targeted by a group of 150-200 individuals reportedly affiliated with the BJP and BJYM on Saturday, June 15, 2024.

Dr. Naveen of Orthopaedic Hospital Medak, visibly distressed, shared a video on social media where he described the incident. He expressed concern over the attack on the hospital, which resulted in damage to hospital property and staff vehicles.

The unrest began after the management of Madrasa Minhaj ul Uloom purchased cattle for the Bakra Eid celebration, leading to a disturbance among members of right-wing groups. The police intervened to disperse the crowd, but before they could restore order, nearby shops owned by Muslims were targeted.

An hour later, the right-wing group returned to the madrasa, resulting in a more violent confrontation. Several individuals inside the madrasa were injured and required medical attention at the local hospital.

Dr. Naveen recounted that while the hospital was treating the injured patients, a mob of 100 to 150 people attacked, throwing stones, breaking windows, and damaging furniture. One staff member suffered a fractured leg during the incident.

In response to the violence, additional police forces have been deployed to Medak to maintain order and prevent further incidents. The community is in shock, dealing with the aftermath of the attack on the hospital.
