
Officials on Monday identified the two militants killed in the encounter in Kulgam as locals, who were affiliated with the militant outfit Lashkar e Taiba.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat officials said that RR of the Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and CRPF were fired upon by militants during a cordon and search operation in the Trubji area of Nowpora in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
During the exchange of gunfire, two militants were killed.
Sources told The Kashmiriyat that among the slain is Idrees Ahmed Dar, a resident of Kulgam’s Kulpora area who had been missing since April 06, this year.
His family had said that Idrees who was a Hotel Management Student left his home on 06 April for the nearby Bogund village where the family was doing small construction work.
The family of Idrees who had completed his Bachelor’s in Hotel Management from a college in Dehradun had appealed him to return home, The Kashmiriyat reported on April 10.
Another slain militant, as per the sources, has been identified as the 18-year-old Zubair Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Raziq Mir, a resident of Tangpora in Quimoh belt of Kulgam district.
As per the Sources, Zubair had joined the militant outfit lashkar e Taiba on 29 August 2021.
