A houseboat at Abi Guzar has collapsed on the intervening night of Wednesday-Thursday, thereby forcing the family to live under the open sky.
“The residential houseboat situated at Abi Guzar embankment got collapsed at around 02 pm, resulting in loss of property worth crores,” Shameema, who was living in the houseboat as a paying guest told The Kashmiriyat.
She said that they suffered a tremendous loss due to the collapse of the houseboat.
“The rush of water entering into our residential houseboat did not allow us to save the essentials,” Shameema said while speaking to The Kashmiriyat.
Shameema said that her four daughters, two sons, husband and other family members were present in the houseboat as it sunk.
“We were rescued by the neighbors. They risked their lives and saved us,” she added.
“As we have been exposed to bare skies in the chilling winters, We appeal to the government to provide some assistance to us so that we can renovate the houseboat again,” she demanded.
