
Hundreds of people gathered in Bemina, Srinagar, on Tuesday to attend the funeral prayers of Ghulam Mohammed Bakshi, father of senior leader Shakeel Bakhshi.
Bakshi, a former employee at Silk Factory Srinagar, dedicated much of his life to social and religious service and education.
He was widely known for leading prayers at several mosques across Srinagar district.
He passed away at his Bemina residence around 4 p.m. on Tuesday after a brief illness. His Namaz-e-Janazah was offered at 8:30 p.m. at Gousia Park, Bemina.
His death is being condoled widely by various quarters of the society. Prominent lawyer, Ghulam Nabi Shaheen expressing grief over the sad demise write,”His contribution in early Nineties when he along with his co associates established Hilal i Ahmar Trust in JK which served the destitute families in dire circumstances. His contributions on various fronts in his life are unforgettable and praiseworthy rather a guide line for future generations to learn art of living in adverse conditions.”
He is survived by his four sons including Shakeel and Showkat Bakshi.
