The Government forces on Thursday recovered and defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in Dar Mohalla Garoora area on Bandipora- Srinagar highway.
An official said that the IED was planted by the militants in Garoora area of Bandipora.
Detailing the incident, he said that a patrol party of 13RR recovered the IED on the highway around 7 am by ED Dog.
Soon, they said, traffic movement on the highway was suspended.
A Bomb disposal squad of Bandipora police defused the IED around 12:15 pm without causing any damage, following which traffic movement was restored on the road.
The official said that a major tragedy was averted by the forces by defusing the 20 Kg IED.
