In a first, traffic police bar Journalists from parking vehicles in Press Enclave

In a first, Traffic Police on Monday disallowed journalists from parking their vehicles in Press Enclave Srinagar. A couple of vehicles of media personnel were towed away.

A traffic police party led by SP City Traffic, Muzaffar Shah arrived in Press Enclave and removed the parked vehicles. Even the vehicle of a senior journalist was lifted and taken to traffic headquarters.

Journalists Park their vehicles and bikes in the Press Enclave ever since its establishment.

SP Traffic City, Muzaffar Shah in response to multiple questions as per news agency Kashmir News Trust said that there is paid parking and vehicles should be parked there. “This drive is not specific but for everyone. There is paid parking for road users and they should park their vehicles there,” he said.

A Journalist said that they are supposed to attend multiple events a day and the biggest question is how many times they will pay from their own pockets on daily basis. “This has happened the first time as far as my memory goes. A Journalist is not a businessman who parks his vehicle in the morning in the paid parking for the whole day. A Journalist doesn’t sit at one place like a shopkeeper and this thing need to be understood,” he said. (KNT)
