‘In Kashmir, peace prevails after 370 abrogation, not graves’: BJP leader counters Aga Ruhullah’s claims

Senior BJP leader and Jammu & Kashmir spokesperson Altaf Thakur launched a strong rebuttal against National Conference MP Aga Syed Ruhullah’s recent comments, where Ruhullah claimed that the abrogation of Article 370 had “choked Jammu & Kashmir’s economy” and increased threats to Muslims across India.

Thakur dismissed Ruhullah’s statements, asserting, “Not a single new grave was dug due to violence after the abrogation of special status.” He emphasized that since the revocation of Article 370 in August 2019, the region has seen a significant reduction in violence and militancy, leading to a period of peace and stability.

“Today, peace prevails throughout Jammu and Kashmir. The fear and unrest that plagued the region for decades have been replaced by hope, stability, and security,” Thakur said. He also pointed out that the region had witnessed record voter turnouts in both Lok Sabha and parliamentary elections post-abrogation, a sign of growing faith in the democratic process.

Thakur further addressed Ruhullah’s claim about the safety of Muslims in India, asserting that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the country is committed to the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas,” ensuring inclusive development for all citizens, regardless of caste or religion. “There is no threat to any community in India. The government’s priority is economic growth, equal opportunities, and development for everyone,” he added.

Thakur also criticized Ruhullah’s call for restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s pre-1953 position, labeling it “an outdated and separatist agenda.” He stressed that such demands no longer have any place in a united and progressive India. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have rejected separatist narratives, and the focus now is on peace, development, and integration with the rest of the country,” Thakur concluded.
