Jammu Kashmir’s Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said for the first time in the past 33 years, the year 2023 will be recorded as the peaceful ever year in the history of UT while as the “law and order issues have also come down to zero.”
Talking to reporters in Jammu, DGP Singh, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that in the past 33 years, the ensuing year (2023) will be counted as the peaceful ever year in the history of UT.
“There has been no law and order issue in the year 2023. Overall law and order issues have come to zero,” the J&K police chief said.
On the terrorism related incidents, DGP Singh said such incidents have decreased 200 times compared to past figures. “Killings of innocent civilians who would be killed on one or the other pretext have also come down to an all-time low. The killings of security forces in terrorist related incidents and those who would go home on leave have reached zero as well,” he said as per KNO.
The DGP said that local militant recruitment has come down close to zero in J&K. “In 2018, 210 local boys joined militancy. In 2023, ten boys joined terrorism of which six were killed in various encounters and only four are left now,” he said. The J&K police chief said that efforts are on to wipe out remaining terrorism in the UT.
“I congratulate the youth for ignoring the radicalisation propaganda and choosing their careers in peace,” DGP Singh said—(KNO)
