Ind vs Pak T20 Match: Judicial remand of Kashmiri Students arrested Under Sedition Charges extended again

The Judicial remand of three Kashmiri students, who were booked on the charges of sedition, has been extended till 20 December by an Agra court.

The trio were booked after they allegedly celebrated win of Pakistan cricket team in a match against the Indian team.

The students – Arsheed Yusuf, Inayat Altaf and Showket Ahmad – were studying at Raja Balwant Singh Engineering College in Agra.

According to reports, Agra court in Uttar Pradesh has extended the judicial remand of these three till 20th December.

Earlier the court on 25th November, had extended the judicial remand till 7th Dec. However, it has been again extended till 20th December on Tuesday.

Sources told The Kashmiriyat said that the next date of hearing of students petition seeking transfer of case from Agra to Mathura has been fixed as 10th December.

The Uttar Pradesh police had booked and arrested the trio under section 153A, 505 (1)B of IPC, section 66F of IT Act and section 124 (A) (Sedition) for allegedly celebrating Pakistan cricket team’s win.

Spokesperson of Jammu Kashmir Students Association, Nasir Khuehami, told The Kashmiriyat, “We arranged a lawyer, a month back and we are fighting the legal battle.”

He added that some people were spreading rumors that no lawyer is ready to take up the case, “which is totally wrong,” he said. He also added that the lawyer was arranged through the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR).

Khuehami told The Kashmiriyat, “Our lawyer has filed a petition in Allahabad High Court seeking transfer of case from Agra to Mathura.”

In a tweet Nasir Khuehami said that “Agra Court hs extnded the judicial remand of the 3 Kashmiri students, booked on the charges of sedition till December 20. Earlier, Allahabad high court hs fixed Dec 10 as the next date of hearing into the students petition, seeking transfr of the case frm Agra to Mathura.”
