An IndiGo flight from Delhi to Leh returned to the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday after a technical issue prevented it from landing in the hilly region.
The A320 aircraft, operating as flight 6E 2006, had been airborne for over two hours before returning to the national capital. According to flight tracking website Flightradar24, the aircraft was unable to proceed due to “operational restrictions” caused by the snag.
“IndiGo flight 6E 2006 operating from Delhi to Leh on 19 June 2025, returned to origin due to a technical issue which caused operational restrictions to land in Leh. As per procedures, the pilot returned back to Delhi,” the airline said in a statement.
The aircraft is currently undergoing maintenance, and a replacement has been arranged to take passengers to Leh without further delay, the airline added.
In a separate incident the same morning, a Tirupati-bound SpiceJet flight from Hyderabad had to return shortly after takeoff due to another technical issue. Flight SG 2696, which departed Hyderabad at 6:19 am, returned to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport well before its scheduled arrival at 7:40 am.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, passengers on a Delhi-Raipur IndiGo flight were stuck inside the aircraft for nearly 40 minutes after landing, as the door failed to open due to a minor technical issue.
Former Chhattisgarh chief minister Bhupesh Baghel and Raipur mayor Meenal Choubey were among those on board.
