After several nations condemned the insulting remarks of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma that she made during a live show against the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Saudi, Indonesia, and United Arab Emirates too condemned the derogatory remarks on Monday.
Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs said, “Indonesia strongly condemns unacceptable derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad PBUH by two Indian politicians. This message has been conveyed to the Indian Ambassador in Jakarta.”
United Arab Emirate has also condemned statements by the spokesperson of the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party, expressing its denunciation and rejection of insults of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) affirmed the UAE’s firm rejection of all practices and behaviors that contradict moral and human values and principles.
The ministry underscored the need to respect religious symbols and not violate them, as well as confront hate speech and violence.
UAE also noted the importance of strengthening the shared international responsibility to spread the values of tolerance and human coexistence while preventing any practices that would inflame the sentiment of followers of different religions.
Earlier Saudi Arabia also condemned the “shameful” remarks.
Kuwait, Qatar and Iran had on Sunday summoned the Indian ambassador for the remarks made by the BJP spokesperson while Oman’s Grand Mufti called for a boycott of Indian products in the middle east.
