Peoples Democratic Party (J&KPDP) has expressed deep anguish over high water surcharges being slapped on general public by the Government as water supply bills for last several years in one go and has termed it as atrocious.
A party spokesperson in a statement issued here today said the move exhibits total insensitiveness towards the poor people by burdening them with huge bills through concerned PHE department.
“Instead of owning their own mistakes of not determining water bills at regular intervals for the consumers, the concerned authorities are blaming general public for the delay in their annual payment,” the spokesman said.
Demanding an immediate amnesty and rationalisation for the payments the party said that the people from humble background would otherwise not be able to mitigate this huge burden without any inconvenience or pressure
