Intense Clashes Erupt in Islamic University of Kashmir Against Custodial Killing of Rizwan Pandit

Protests erupted in Islamic University of Science and Technology on Monday after the students in large numbers gathered to demand justice for Rizwan Pandit, who was a visiting faculty in the University.

Rizwan Pandit, a resident of Awantipora was allegedly killed in Police custody on Tuesday after he was detained by the Police from his home.

A Student while speaking to The Kashmiriyat said students in large numbers gathered shouting slogans to demand justice for the victim of the custodial killing.

As soon as the students tried to march towards the main road of Awantipora, Policemen deployed there did not allow the students to move ahead, which resulted in eruption of clashes.

The Forces hurled tear smoke shells at the students who responded with stone throwing.

The clashes were going on when this report was filed.
