Protests erupted in the Government Degree college Of Pulwama and Tral in Pulwama district of South Kashmir after two detained youth studying in the colleges were brought to the campuses for writing their BG fifth semester English exam.
A Student told The Kashmiriyat that students in large numbers shouting slogans gathered in the college ground of Tral when a student detained by Jammu Kashmir Police was brought to the college to write the exams.
As soon as this student was brought inside the campus, fellow students gathered and shouted slogans against the forces while demanding the release of the fellow students.
Girls in large numbers can be seen shouting high pitch slogans at the Policemen deployed outside the exam hall.
The students have been allegedly detained under the Public Safety Act, which allows the authorities to detain a person for a period of up to two years.
Similar scenes were witnessed in the Pulwama’s Government bdegree college which had become the epicenter of protests in 2017 when Government Force personnel during clashes barged inside the college campus and thrashed several students. This triggered months-long protests in the valley.
A college student namely Imtiyaz Ahmad from Lelhara, Kakpora area of Pulwama district was brought to the college under Police detention to write the exams when other students gathered to protest while demanding his release.
Meanwhile, Sources told The Kashmiriyat that minor stone-throwing clashes took place outside GDC Pulwama.
