
Amid heightened regional tensions, the Islamic Republic of Iran has opened its airspace to enable the safe evacuation of Indian students stranded in the country.
The evacuation is being carried out via special chartered flights operated by Mahan Air, with the first arrivals expected in New Delhi tonight and tomorrow.
Students based in the city of Mashhad are also among those being evacuated. Initially, authorities had considered using Turkmenistan as a possible route for evacuation, but the plan was later revised in coordination with relevant officials and agencies.
Meanwhile thow All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA), Jammu Kashmir, extended its gratitude to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Indian Embassy in Tehran, and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for their timely support in ensuring the safe return of the students. “Any student needing help may contact Dr. Mujtaba Shaw Additional Secretary, AIMSA– +91 88997 77125 and Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, Vice President, AIMSA–Jammu Kashmir, +91 70065 47967,” the statement added.
