The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of Maharashtra police has allegedly seized around 2 kg of charas from a resident of Jammu Kashmir in neighbouring Thane district, a senior official said Wednesday
ATS sleuths had received information that the accused was coming to Thane on Monday to sell hashish, commonly known as charas, the official said.
He was nabbed on Monday and 1.8 kg of the contraband and a motorcycle were seized from him, the ATS official said.
The accused hails from Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
Police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act against him.
The accused was procured before a court Tuesday and remanded in police custody for ten days.
Probe is on to find out if he was going to sell the drug to anybody in Maharashtra, the official said.
