
Dr. Kaleemullah Lone, son of Ghulam Qadir Lone, the former general secretary of Jamaat-e-Islami, is gearing up to contest the forthcoming Jammu Kashmir assembly elections from the Langate constituency.
In a statement to the Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Dr. Lone confirmed his candidacy for the Langate seat.
He will be up against Irfan Panditpori of the People’s Conference, as well as candidates from the NC-Congress alliance and AIP, who have yet to finalize their nominations.
Additionally, sources have revealed that Jamaat-e-Islami is preparing to announce its list of candidates for the elections, with a focus on several constituencies including Sopore,
Trehgam, Bandipora, Lolab, and Kupwara. Notably, Jamaat has already fielded at least four candidates from South Kashmir.
