Jammu Kashmir Administration has Allotted 25 Acres of Land to Set up Kashmir’s First Sainik Colony

The administration in Jammu Kashmir has identified 200 kanals of land in Budgam district to set up Kashmir’s first Sainik colony, The Print reported.

The report quoted a senior official saying that the land will be primarily used to set up housing facilities for retired armed forces personnel and their families belonging to Jammu Kashmir, also accommodating the widows and families of deceased personnel of the armed forces.

“The 25 acre grazing land and its transfer to the relevant authorities will take place after completion of all the bureaucratic processes, central and Jammu Kashmir,” the report read.

The Government Forces had been long seeking the establishment of the colony for the Force personnel.

The 25 acre land, including revenue papers had been forwarded to the concerned officials on the 3rd Day of October after the district administration identified the land on the directions of the JK administration.

Pertinently, the Central government abrogated the article 370 of the Indian Constitution which specified that non- residents of Jammu Kashmir cannot buy land in Jammu Kashmir.

Modi Led BJP government passed new land laws which gave access to anyone to buy land in Jammu Kashmir. They have also passed the strategic areas act which allows the Government Forces to Declare any area in the region as strategically important and use the area defense activities.
