In 24 hours, Jammu Kashmir experienced no less than 11 earthquakes and aftershocks. Local experts suggest that the prevalence of mild tremors is a positive sign, potentially reducing the likelihood of a more severe earthquake.
On Monday afternoon, a series of five consecutive earthquakes rattled J&K within one hour. Subsequently, two aftershocks occurred later in the evening, bringing the total count of tremors to seven within the day.
Adding to the seismic activity, four more earthquakes occurred in the morning, bringing the total to 11 within the 24-hour timeframe. Authorities attribute the origin of all these earthquakes to Zanskar, Kargil, and Kishtwar in Jammu & Kashmir.
The initial earthquake, registering a magnitude of 3.0, struck J&K and Ladakh at 3:57 AM today, followed by a second quake measuring 3.4 at 10:30 AM. The third and fourth earthquakes, with magnitudes of 2.9 and 2.8, occurred at 11:18 AM and 11:28 AM, respectively.
Despite the ongoing seismic activities, experts urge the public to take precautionary measures and emphasize that there is no need for panic.
