Jammu Kashmir police warns public against sheltering militants

Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, has issued a stern warning to individuals supporting or harboring terrorists, stating that such actions will lead to severe consequences.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activity.

Speaking at a press conference, Jain reiterated the J&K Police’s commitment to dismantling the terror network and safeguarding peace in the region. He emphasized that the properties of individuals supporting militancy are being identified and attached as part of an intensified crackdown.

“The properties of 29 additional absconding terrorists have been identified, and the attachment process is underway,” Jain said, adding that this action reflects the police’s resolve to uphold the region’s peace and integrity.

In a significant development, Jain disclosed that the police had solved the mystery behind a series of grenade attacks in Poonch district over the past year.

Two hybrid militants, responsible for these attacks, were arrested, and arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession. Jain said, “These terrorists were behind grenade attacks at temples, hospitals, gurdwaras, army locations, and other sites in Poonch. They also confessed to pasting anti-national posters to disturb peace and communal harmony.”

The arrested individuals, both locals, revealed links to a larger terror plot during interrogation. Jain highlighted the shift in terrorist recruitment efforts, noting the increasing involvement of locals in such activities.

“The arrest of these individuals is a significant success for the police, army, and CRPF, as it disrupts terrorist attempts to recruit local youth,” he added.

Additionally, Jain mentioned ongoing operations against Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and terror networks across all districts. He noted that seven properties linked to individuals based in Pakistan had been attached in Kishtwar, with efforts to dismantle the terror support base continuing.

The ADGP assured that such robust actions would persist until the terror ecosystem is eradicated entirely, urging public cooperation to maintain peace and stability in Jammu and Kashmir.
