Jammu Kashmir prepares for August 15 celebrations, Omar Abdullah to take salute at Bakshi stadium

Jammu Kashmir is preparing to mark India’s 79th Independence Day with events across the region.

The main function will be held at Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium, where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will take the salute. In Jammu, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary will lead the celebrations.

Ministers will preside over district functions, Sakina Masood (Anantnag), Javed Ahmed Rana (Poonch), Javid Ahmad Dar (Baramulla) and Satish Sharma (Kathua).

District Development Council chairpersons will oversee ceremonies in other districts, while sub-divisional and tehsil events will be led by local administrative heads.
