The third and final phase of the Jammu Kashmir Assembly Elections concluded on Tuesday with an overall voter turnout of 65.58 per cent.
This marks the completion of a significant electoral process, the first held in the region after a decade.
The elections were spread over three phases, with each phase seeing substantial participation from voters, signaling a renewed faith in the democratic process in the Union Territory.
In this decisive phase, constituencies like Chhamb, Akhnoor, and Marh recorded the highest turnouts, with 77.35%, 76.28%, and 76.10% respectively.
Gurez also saw enthusiastic participation with 75.89% of voters casting their ballots. However, Sopore witnessed the lowest turnout at 41.44%. In key districts, Bandipora registered 62%, while Baramulla saw a relatively lower turnout of 47.95%, and Kupwara recorded 59.68%.
The elections, held after a gap of 10 years, have drawn attention both nationally and internationally.
Voter turnout across all three phases has demonstrated significant engagement, with constituencies in Jammu such as Jammu East and Jammu North recording over 60% participation in the final phase.
The culmination of polls today paves the way for the much-anticipated results, set to be declared on October 8, which will decide the political future of Jammu Kashmir.
