Jammu Police Arrested 6 People Involved LeT Financing Network

Six people, allegedly LeT members were arrested in Jammu, today. The Jammu police, by arresting these 6 people, claims to have busted a LeT financing network. A senior police official, while talking to media persons said, “A case FIR No. 42/2020 U/S 17/18/20/21/38 and 40 of UAPA Act 1967 was registered at Police Station Peermitha, Jammu.”.

According to the police, Mubashir Farooq Bhat, son of Farooq Ahmed Bhat, resident of Sazan, Doda was arrested by the special Operation Group Jammu, on 19th July with 1.5 Lac Indian Currency concealed in a Tiffin Box.

During investigation, five more suspects involved in the module namely Touqeer Ahmad Bhat,  son of Ghulam Qadir Bhat,  resident of Sazan, Doda, Asif Bhat, son Md. Ayoub Bhat, Khalid Latief Bhat, resident of Kotal, Doda, Gazi Iqbal, son of Mohd Iqbal, resident of Kotal, Doda, and Tariq Hussain Mir son of Shamas Din of Tanta Doda who have admitted their involvement in the case were arrested.

The accused were responsible for identifying and recruiting youth to militant ranks, transporting arms from one location to another, distributing money among the families of active and deceased militants and strengthening the LeT base in the area.

According to police officials, all the accused have been in touch with a Pakistani Handler who had been active LeT district commander in Doda, before exfiltrating to Pakistan in 2006.

Further investigation is underway.
