After Kashmir-based politicians expressed their anger over the inclusion of nonlocals in the voter list of Jammu Kashmir, the residents of Jammu took to the streets against the move of the Election commission.
Residents of Jammu on Thursday took to the streets in Janipur in Jammu and burnt the copies of the latest order of the election commissioner to include the non-locals in the voter list of Jammu Kashmir.
“The people of Jammu oppose the decision of the election commissioner. It is wrong. The decision should be reversed as soon as possible. This is unacceptable to Jammu Kashmir. Article 370 was removed to disempower the people of Jammu. Now this order will further add to the disempowerment,” Sunil Dimple, a local activist said.
He demanded a repeal of the decision along with demanding that statehood be returned to Jammu Kashmir.
