JDU Members Stage Protest Against Liquor Shops, Demanding Cancellation of New Licenses

On Saturday, the members of Janata Dal United (JDU), Srinagar held a peaceful protest here at Press Colony, Srinagar against the sale of Liquor in Kashmir.

They raised slogans demanding the ban on alcohol shops in Kashmir region. Mirza Sajad Hussain Beigh, Secretary General, Janta Dal United, Srinagar told The Kashmiriyat that they demand cancellation of the new licenses which are being allotted for the Liquor shops in Kashmir.

“It’s a Muslim dominated area. We won’t allow these shops to open here,” Beigh said.

The protesting members of JDU expressed that the old alcohol shops in Kashmir were unacceptable to the people here, and thus the opening of new shops in the valley was out of question
