JeM commander, Sham Sofi has been killed during the ongoing gunfight between the government forces and militants in Waggad, Tral.
The Kashmir Zone Police tweeted from its handle that one militant has been killed in the operation.
At around 2:00 pm, an encounter broke out between security forces and militants at Talwani Mohalla in Waggad area of Tral hamlet in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Wednesday.
Two to Three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
An official told The Kashmiriyat that a joint of team of Police, Army’s 42 RR and CRPF after receiving information about the presence of militants launched search operation in the area.
He said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the party, which was retaliated, thus triggering an encounter.
