JK Admin wakes up to exorbitant food prices, Issues rate list for vegetables and fruits

The Jammu Kashmir administration has woken up to the exorbitant food prices in the region and issued a rate list of vegetables and fruits.

Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs has fixed rates for vegetables & fruits to avoid overcharging.

The Department also said that strict action would be initiated against the violators of the rate list issued by the Jammu Kashmir admin.

“Raids will be conducted in markets throughout the month of Ramadan and anyone found violating the rate list will be booked under law,” an official of CAPD told The Kashmiriyat.

In their rate list, the Department has fixed the price of vegetables as:

Non Local Potato- Rupees 20, Potato (Saleed): Rupees 15, Onion: rupees 30, Spanich Kashmir: Rupees 25, Tomato(Non-Local): Rupees 40, Cauliflower 40 rupees, Cabbage 25 rupees, Carrot 20 rupees, Bottle Gourd rupees 40, Cucumber 25 rupees, Radish rupees 25, Capsicum rupees 55, Green chilies 55 rupees, Ginger 25 rupees, Aubergine (eggplant) rupees 35, coriander rupees 35, Peas rupees 50.

The Department has also fixed the rate of fruits presently being sold at exorbitant rates across the Kashmir valley.

Banana (grade 1) Rupees 75, Banana (grade 2) Rupees 60, Kiwi Rupees 35, Pineapple 55 Rupees, Pomegranate Rupees 130, Green grapes 75 rupees, Red Grapes 190 rupees, Black Grapes rupees 100, Papaya 50 Rupees, Mangoes (Dussera) 170 rupees, Mangoes (Sapaida) rupees 150, Muskmelon rupees 45, Watermelon  30, Orange (171) rupees 125, Orange (191) rupees 100,
