JK Police sub-inspector exams papers sold for 10K; Six officials of SSB, ex-army personnel, Journalist among accused

The names of six officers of the recruitment board, Army personnel, and a Journalist have emerged in the alleged scam in the recruitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Police Sub-Inspectors.

The Lieutenant Governor’s administration is preparing to take action against these officers.

The investigation of rigging in SI recruitment has been handed over to the CBI.

The administration is planning to take action against the officers even before the CBI investigation starts so that the CBI does not face any problems in taking action against them.

In this, the inquiry committee found that there was rigging in the recruitment, so it should be canceled and a CBI inquiry should be conducted.

On the other hand, the admin also got the preliminary level investigation done by agencies like the police and crime branch.

During the investigation, the names of six officers associated with the recruitment board have come to the fore.

Sources say that the Crime Branch has also investigated the SI recruitment case at its level. The Crime Branch had questioned the people related to the rigging and afterward submitted a report stating that rigging was done on a large scale which included the sale of papers from Akhnoor.

The CBI had made major headway in the scam as it established that paper was leaked in Jalandhar and first sold in a library at Akhnoor. A retired CRPF jawan from Akhnoor with the help of a retired Army commandant first sold the paper for 15 lakh rupees and then the rate started coming down. In the end, the rates were reduced to 10,000 rupees.

A journalist was also involved in the scam as he too managed to get the leaked paper and shared the answer key through WhatsApp, sources said.

Pertinently, the Service Selection Board is also under question for awarding the contract of the examination to a banned recruiting agency.

The agency has been banned by many states and departments, despite which the company was given the contract of recruitment by SSB without changing the rules.
