JKNC seeks apology over alleged disrespectful treatment of government employees

The Jammu Kashmir National Conference has alleged that the local administration has disregarded the basic rights of government employees.

Tweeting a video that purportedly shows government employees walking barefoot in the Yoga event organised for Prime Minister Modi, JKNC said, “Reports and videos surfaced showing employees forced into walking barefoot in an event organised for Prime Minister. The way this administration has treated the employees shows its disregard for respect and basic rights of the employees.”

The video was initially tweeted by recently elected Member Parliament, Aga Ruhullah Mehdi who said that the behaviour was unacceptable. “If these reports are true, @PMOIndia  should apologise for this disrespectful treatment of the employees,” he demanded.

Meanwhile the Directorate of Information and Public Relations Jammu Kashmir had earlier said that no employee was forced to participate in the event.

“In response to the misinformation circulating on the social media regarding Yoga Day celebrations, where it was alleged that employees were forced to participate in the event, female employees were made to change their clothes and even pregnant women were forced to take part in celebrations. ”

The Director Colleges J&K has rebutted this misinformation stating that all participants in the Yoga Day celebrations have volunteered to take part in the event and no employee was compelled to join the event against their will.

Raja Muzaffar, an environmental activist from Kashmir on his x handle retorted stating, “This isn’t a Fake News but it is a reality No Permission Sought from the Female Employees Leaving Home at 3 AM yesterday & today for rehearsal isn’t well being of Staff ? Tunics were worn by them over their dresses? Nobody was comfortable to change dress at SP College at 4am.”
