Jobs to outsiders by NHPC stokes anger in Chenab valley; DDC Chairman on strike since 11 days

The unemployment in the Chenab valley has raised a sudden alarm among all sections of society, especially the youngsters. Expressing resentment over the growing unemployment, the District Development Council member Aamir Rasool Magrey has said that non-locals are being employed by the National Hydro Power Commission.

Amir expressed his dissatisfaction with the “dysfunctional” system saying, “Whatever promises were made in the backdrop of DDC election by BJP Govt turned out to be empty vessels.”

Speaking about Pakal Dul Hydro Electric Project and hiring of local unemployed youths in the Power Projects and Land Compensation issues, “No measures have been taken till date to ensure the jobs reach the local youth. Even today, for the past nine days Kishtwar DDC Chairperson Mrs. Puja Thakur is sitting on a strike in Dangduru in this spine-chilling cold but BJP is indifferent and they even did not bother to talk to her.”

“Even seven months prior, she sat in protest for the inefficiency of the PPA, then the Authority assured her that all the unemployed youths would be appointed in the Projects undergoing in the areas but again everything turned to be an empty vessel,” Magrey said.

Aamir Rasool said that it’s all because of the high-handedness of the BJP. He put forward that the Abrogation of 370 and Article 35A was a historical mistake by the Government.

“The Abrogation is the landmark beginning of the East Indian Doctrinal Rule which BJP is now idolizing. The only thing BJP is up to is to manifest selling off the resources of Jammu Kashmir. Lands are getting sold off to outsiders without domicile certificates, water resources are at the stake, state employments are also now getting opened to outsiders. This is the reason why our Chairperson is sitting for a strike that in the Power Projects also people are appointed from outside and unemployed local youths have remained where they were- deprived of jobs.”

Aamir Magrey finally requested to the LG, District Administration Kishtwar, and Divisional Commissioner Jammu to have an immediate intervention on the issue.
