Media professionals were barred from covering the activities of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s visit to central Kashmir’s district Ganderbal on Saturday, Ganderbal Press Association said in a statement.
In a statement issued to the press, the association alleged that local reporters representing various media organisations were denied permission to cover the two meetings of Omar abdullah held at Mini secretariat and Dak banglow in Ganderbal.

“It is very unfortunate that journalists were not allowed to perform their professional duties,” the press release added.
A journalist associated with the fraternity said that recently CM Omar Abdullah promised to give journalists freedom to operate. But it seems those were just claims, after government formation we were expecting some relief.”
“We register our protest against it. Let the Government tell us why journalists were stopped,” the press release added.
The Ganderbal Press Association has decided to boycott the event of National Conference and Omar Abdullah, until response from CM, added the press release.
