Locals in Shopian town staged a protest after Friday prayers in the South Kashmir district to protest against the attack on Hijab in Karnataka.
Eyewitnesses told The Kashmiriyat that shouting slogans and holding placards, scores of locals took out a march from Jamia Masjid of Shopian to express solidarity with the girls fighting the Hijab ban in Karnataka.
“Hijab is a personal choice and nobody has a right to dictate to Muslim girls or anyone on what to wear and what not,” a protestor said.
A controversy erupted in Karnataka where Hindu fringe mobs are opposing Muslim girls for wearing Hijab.
