The civilian killings in Kashmir Valley in the past four years has increased manifold, as per stats.
In contrast to 41 civilian killings in 2015, at least 126 civilians lost their lives in first eleven months of current year-2018.
From 2015 to 2018, Kashmir has witnessed at least 383 civilian killings. 126 civilians died in 2016 and so far the number of civilian casualties is same in the first 11 months of current year, in 2017, at least 86 civilians were killed in Jammu Kashmir.
As per stats, 12 civilians were killed in January, 6 in February, 12 in March, 18 in April, 11 in June, 9 in July, 7 each in August and September, 13 in October and 10 in November.
On March 05, four civilians were shot dead in Pehnoo area of South Kashmir’s Shopian District while on April 01, four civilians were shot dead in Shopian’s Dragad and Kachdoora.
On May 5, four civilians were shot dead during an encounter site at Badigam area in South Kashmir’s Kulgam while prominent journalist Shuja’at Bukhari was shot dead by unknown gunmen on 14 June, 2018.
On July 07, three civilians including a 13 year old girl were shot dead when Army opened fire on unarmed civilians in Hawoora village of Kulgam.

On 21 October, 7 Civilians were killed in an expulsion near an encounter site in Laroo area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam District.
Civilian causalities have increased manifold near encounter sites as more civilians continue to throng the encounter sites.
During several recent gunfights, moreover, civilians diverted the soldiers’ attention from the procession in order to help the Militants escape unscathed. These trends have alerted Indian agencies.
