Kashmiri Doctor awarded prestigious FAAI gold medal

Dr. Taha Ashraf Qureshi, a Kashmiri medical professional, has attained the highest recognition in the inaugural Fellowship in Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (FAAI) program. He has been bestowed with the prestigious “Dr. Pudupakkam K. Vedanthan Gold Medal” for his exceptional performance in the 2023 FAAI course.

This pioneering FAAI initiative was a collaborative endeavor between AIIMS Rishikesh, PGI Chandigarh, and International Asthma Services in Denver, USA. It marked a significant milestone as the first fellowship of its kind, bringing together candidates from India and around the world in June 2023.

The certificates of completion for the FAAI course will be officially awarded during the upcoming graduation ceremony in December 2023 at AIIMS, Rishikesh. During this event, Dr. Taha Ashraf Qureshi will be honored with the “Dr. Pudupakkam K. Vedanthan Gold Medal,” while Dr. Dipak Kumar Gupta will receive the “Dr. Stephen Berman Silver Medal.”

Dr. Taha Ashraf currently serves as an Allergy Specialist at the Allergy Clinic in JLNM Hospital, a clinical facility established by the Directorate of Health Services in Jammu and Kashmir. This clinic has gained recognition due to the high prevalence of allergic diseases in the region.

Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Director of Health Services Kashmir, praised Dr. Taha’s dedication, professionalism, and commitment to service, emphasizing his remarkable accomplishments. Dr. Meenu Singh, Executive Director of AIIMS Rishikesh, and Dr. P. K. Vedanthan, Clinical Professor at the University of Colorado, Denver, who are FAAI course directors and renowned allergy and immunology specialists, extended their heartfelt congratulations to these accomplished individuals and wished them success in their future endeavors.
