We often hear from our parents, especially from our mothers about their Pandit friends, who were separated from them in early 90’s after the eruption of Militancy.
Showcasing similar kind of a friendship, artists in Jammu performed ‘Ek Mulakat’- a story highlighting the plea of Kashmiri Muslims and Pandits, who have suffered equally in the past three decades.
‘Ek Mulakaat’ a play, highlighting the plight of women in conflict bound Jammu and Kashmir, was performed under Restaurant Theatre at Hotel Premier, Jammu on Sunday.
Written and directed by Neha Lahotra, a member of Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) ‘Ek Mulakaat’ is a story of two women who meet after three decades in a restaurant in Jammu after the migration of Kashmiri Pandits from Valley in 1990.
The director, Neha Lahotra performed of a Kashmiri Pandit woman and Nitika Suri performed as Ruksar, a Kashmiri Muslim Woman.
The play highlighted the composite culture of Kashmir Valley before the migration of Kashmiri Pandits and the present scenario in which both –Kashmiri Hindu and Muslim communities are living, reported JK News Today reported.
The play commenced with a meeting of two old Kashmiri friends, who meet first time after the migration of Hindu community fro Kashmir and their discussion highlights how both the communities have suffered during last twenty eight years.
Both woman share the struggles, the pandit woman tells her how her family has strugled, after leaving their home and the Muslim woman narrates how after the eruption of militancy has affected the life of Kashmiri Muslims in the valley.
“Both the communities have suffered equally during the past decades, and has had a bad impact on the composite culture of Kashmir. Through my play, i have tried to highlight the sufferings of the women of both the communities,” Neha Lahotra told media.
