Kashmiri Pandits Demand Reservation in the Assembly

A group of Kashmiri Pandits has demanded a special reservation in the legislative assembly of Jammu Kashmir.

Speaking to the press, Dr. Ramesh Raina said, “We have been suffering for the past 31 years and we have no political representation in the assembly of Jammu Kashmir. We met the delimitation commission and demanded that we be given reserved representation in Jammu Kashmir.”

The Kashmiri Pandits should be given a constituency in exile, he said, adding, “We have put the demand forward to the delimitation commission.”

“Minorities are an important part and parcel of the society, hence we demand a political voice in Jammu Kashmir. We also do not have a minority commission in Jammu Kashmir,” Raina said.

He demanded that the rights of the minorities should be protected. “The delimitation commission has heard our demands that we put forth.”
