Kashmiri shawl seller goes missing in Uttar Pradesh

A Kashmiri youth has gone missing from Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh where he had gone to sell shawls.

Yasir Ahmad Shah, who is a resident of the Aishmuqam area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district went to Lucknow in November 2022 to sell shawls and other warm clothes in winter.

Hundreds of poor Kashmiris go to markets in Delhi, Lucknow, Punjab, Bombay, Calcutta, Bangalore, and other Indian states to earn for the winter months.

Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, his father, Abdul Hameed Shah said that Yasir with one Ali Mohammed Bhat went to Lucknow on 10 November, 2022.

Ali Mohammed said that the family that he was too old and that Yasir will do the tally for him in Lucknow.

He said that the last time he called the family, he (Ali Mohammed) told him that my son was fine.

“I told him to send my son back. He denied saying that my son is young he cannot send him alone,” the father told The Kashmiriyat.

“I told him that I will come there (to Lucknow) to bring my son home to which he agreed,” he said.

Abdul Hameed Shah said that a few days later, he (Ali Mohammed) called his wife stating that our son was missing.

A missing report has been filed in the concerned police station in Aishmuqam.
