An international campaign to safeguard the article 35A of the Indian constitution has been launched in london at a joint press conference on Monday.
The press conference was addressed by Prof.Nazir Ahmed Shawl chairman south Asia centre for peace and human rights(SACFPHR), Barrister Abdul Majid Tramboo chairman International commission for human rights(ICHR) and Zubair Awan Chairman Kashmir youth assembly(KYA).
“Any attempt to repeal article 35A by the Nationalist government of India is unconstitutional and breaches the spirit of the UN resolutions on the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” the members said.
The members emphasized that the state of Jammu Kashmir is yet to see an acceptable and just resolution of the longstanding issue since 1947 saying that the United Nations(UN),through its resolutions has recognized Kashmiris right to self determination.
This campaign is launched by Kashmiri diaspora and a series of activities have been planned in UK,Europe , United Nations and OIC. (The Kashmiriyat)
