Targeting former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that Nehru was responsible for the delay in the merger of
Jammu Kashmir into India. Along with this, he described the merger of Jammu Kashmir with India as final and complete.
On Sunday, Singh said, If Patel had been given the responsibility, Kashmir would have been a part of India.
Praising Sardar Patel, the country’s first Home Minister, the Union Minister said that if Patel had been granted freedom, not only the history of the Indian subcontinent would have been different, but the merger of the state would have happened much earlier and the Kashmir would also be in India.
He said that history did not do justice to Maharaja Hari Singh. In today’s changed situation, all future misconceptions will be cleared for future
generations. Singh, a Lok Sabha member from Udhampur seat in Jammu Kashmir, said, the truth is that only after Sardar Patel’s intervention Indian troops arrived in Srinagar and saved other parts of the state from being captured by Pakistan.
Union Minister said- Nehru supported Abdullah from the back door instead of Hari Singh. He said that Nehru opted for a back door dialogue with Abdullah instead of free and open discussion with Maharaja Hari Singh.
He said that Articles 370 and 35A were brought later.
