Kathua: Teacher allegedly assaults student for writing ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on blackboard

A teacher was arrested on Saturday for allegedly thrashing a student who wrote “Jai Shri Ram” on a blackboard in Kathua.

As per news reports, the teacher Farooq Ahmed entered the classroom to find Jai Shri Ram slogan written on the blackboard. “When he saw the slogan, he enquired and upon finding a student had written it, he started assaulting the student,” reports said.

Later, he allegedly took the student to the Principal Mohammad Hafiz’s room, where the two beat the student mercilessly.

As per Police the teacher, Mohammad Farooq, has been arrested.

The teacher and the principal face charges under Sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 342 (wrongful confinement), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 75 (cruelty to child) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.

The Kashmiriyat tried to speak to the accused duo, however, they were not available for comments. The story will be updated when we hear from them.
