On Sunday, in Hisar, Haryana, a Khap Panchayat has urged dairy farmers to sell milk at Rs. 100 per liter to government cooperative societies in order to protest against the new three agriculture farm laws and hike in prices of fuels.
The appeal was made at a meeting of the Satrol Khap held in Hisar’s Narnaund under the chairmanship of its head Ramniwas.
Phool Kumar Petwar, a leader of Khap Panchayat said dairy farmers have been asked to sell milk at Rs. 100 per litre from March 1 to government cooperative societies while the common people will get milk at its previous prices (Rs. 55 to Rs. 60 per litre).
He said that we want government to respond to our demands. He also said that center should repeal the farms law and reduce the prices of fuels. The government is not listening to the demands of farmers and are continuously increasing the prices of fuels, he added.
He also said that farmers are the people who grow crops and rear animals to get dairy products which means they are the producers, the appeal to sell milk at Rs. 100 per liter is to show that farmers can also hike prices. He also added that farmers are adversely hit by the hike in prices of fuels.
