Kishtwar encounter: Two more militants killed, toll 3

Security forces have killed three unidentified militants so far in an ongoing anti-militancy operation in the dense Chattru forest area of Kishtwar district.

A senior police official told GNS that two more militants were neutralized today, raising the toll to three since the gunfight began earlier this week. “The operation is still underway, given the challenging terrain and dense forest cover,” the officer said.

The encounter was triggered on April 9 when security forces observed suspicious movement in the area and engaged in an exchange of fire with hiding militants.

Officials said additional reinforcements have been rushed to the site to tighten the cordon and prevent any escape.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.

This is the second major encounter in the region this year, highlighting growing concerns over militant presence in upper reaches of Chenab Valley.
