In wake of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha, the Kashmir Retailers Association (KRA) has appealed to Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to permit markets to remain open on the weekend when it’s otherwise supposed to remain closed for weekly Covid restrictions.
KRA President, Farhan Kitab, who is also a member of the All India Retailers Association in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said in the wake of Covid restrictions, the markets in Kashmir have suffered huge losses for over a year.
He said that Eid shopping could give some respite to the traders and shoppers alike.
“Keeping in view of the religious significance of the festival and the terribly bad economic condition of the business community especially the traders, the Lieutenant Governor as a goodwill gesture should allow markets to remain open this weekend and it will send a positive signal among the masses,” Kitab said.
He appealed to the LG to look into the demand through a humanitarian angle—(KNO)
