One more army personnel was injured on Sunday morning as the encounter in the Akhal forests of soth Kashmir’s Kulgam district entered its third day.

Locals told The Kashmiriyat that blasts and sporadic gunfire echoed through the night, with security forces maintaining a tight cordon around the dense forest area.

The operation, which began on Friday evening, is being described by officials as one of the largest in recent memory. So far, two militants have been killed, while a third is believed to be injured and still hiding in the area.

“Elite Para forces, aided by drones and thermal imaging technology, continue to scour the terrain. Senior police and army officials are on the ground, overseeing the high-stakes operation,” official sources told The Kashmiriyat.

They added that due to the challenging geography and fears of additional militants in the area, the search and engagement efforts are being conducted with extreme caution.

Further updates are awaited.
