One cop has been killed during the encounter that broke out between militants and government forces in the Pariwan area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
An official had earlier told The Kashmiriyat that on Wednesday evening, 34 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police, and 18 BN of CRPF launched a joint launched cordon and search operation in the Pariwan area of Kulgam.
During the cordon, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight, he said
Two militants are believed to be trapped at the site of the encounter, the official said.
The official said that one policeman from the Special operation group of Jammu Kashmir Police was killed during the exchange of gunfire.

The slain Policeman has been identified as Rohit Kumar, Belt no.944 posted at Kulgam district of South Kashmir.
