The residents of several Kulgam villages in south Kashmir are up in arms against the Power Development Department over the unscheduled power cuts in these areas.
Speaking to The Kashmiriyat, aghast residents said that despite issuing a curtailment schedule with several power cuts, the Department has failed to provide uninterrupted power supply during the non-curtailment hours.
“The Department makes sure that we have no glimpse of light during the curtailment hours, however, during the hours when we are supposed to receive the supply, the power plays hide and seek with us,” a local resident said.
He said that the villages of Sonigam, Tarigam, Balsoo, Bachroo, Brazloo and other adjoining villages of Yaripora Receiving station in Kulgam are suffering immensely due to unscheduled power cuts.
The residents appealed the higher ups for their intervention.
