Kullan Kangan Residents Protest against Water scarcity

The Residents of Kullan Village of Kangan of Ganderbal on Thursday staged protest demonstration against water shortage in the area.

The protesters speaking to The Kashmiriyat said that the department has failed to provide drinking water to the said area for three weeks.

The residents of Bonpora, Sheikh Mohallah, Shah Mohallah which included men and women, took streets of staged a strong protest against the lack of water.

A large number of people, including men, women and children protested and stopped the traffic movement on Srinagar-Leh Kangan at Kullan. The protesters were slogans against the Jal Shakti department for the poor water supply in their area.

They said that their homes have been provided with a water connection, but these pipes are not supplying water, resulting in great difficulties due to water shortage in the area.

They requested the administration to look at their difficulty and provide them with a water supply in their village.

Traffic remained suspended for about an hour which was later restored after reaching the police authorities’ spot and requested the protesters to call off their protest, they assured that their issue will be raised with PHE authorities and they will resolve it.
