CPI (M) leader Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami has expressed serious concern over the administrative apathy by PMGSY and other departments who have failed to compensate the land owners whose lands have been procured for different purposes.
In a statement, he said that landowners, who are typically marginalized farmers, are dismayed by the slow and dismissive approach adopted by the concerned departments since 2019. This indifferent behavior has caused widespread frustration among the public.
He demanded immediate compensation for the people whose lands have been taken by PMGSY and other departments.
“People in J&K have a long history of struggles against feudals. The officers should not pose bigger than the general public. They are expected to be the custodian of the public interest, as such they must do more to serve the public and use their capacities to mitigate the sufferings of the common people,” Tarigami said.
