Jammu Kashmir is reporting repeated incidents of subsidence creating concerns among environmentalists and the local population equally.
On Saturday, an incident of Land sinking (subsidence) was reported from the Lachampora area in Rajwar Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
During the sinking, the base of a house under construction has been damaged.
The owner of the under-construction building Muhammad Hussain Mir told the media that the base of the house under construction had been buried under the ground after the sinking.
He said that it will be only after proper investigation that anything will be disclosed. “Whether it’s an incident of sinking or not, we will know with time,” the official said.
Pertinently, two incidents of land sinking have been reported from Jammu Kashmir in the ongoing year.
Earlier, two houses were damaged during a land sinking incident in Nayi Basti area of Doda and the residents were evacuated from the area as several other houses had developed cracks.
At Daksar area of Gool in Ramban, two houses collapsed and sixteen others suffered damage after an incident of subsidence was reported in the area.
