Umar Nazir Malik, the district commander of Lashkar e Taiba has been reportedly killed in a gunfight that raged late night in Kiloora area of Shopian District in South Kashmir.
Umar had joined Lashkar e Taiba in 2017 and had been allegedly involved in many Militant activities.
He was killed in a gun battle that raged when Government Forces cordoned off the Kiloora area in Shopian following a specific input about Militant movement in the area.
After a brief exchange of gunfire, Umar was hit with a bullet and killed.
The troops including 44 RR of Indian Army, Jammu Kashmir Police and CRPF are now jointly conducting search operations in the area.
